Introduction

The Covid-19 pandemic situation has made significant changes in the work environment while some office was closed most were used to working remotely at home. A  sudden change in work-life makes every employee have to adapt to a new environment,  which impacts to work.

Work-life balance refers to the balance between work,  family,  and individual responsibility,. In this balance, individuals manage their duties by harmonizing the demands of their personal and professional roles, including those of a partner or parent. Here are additional explanations of why achieving a balance between personal and professional aspects can inspire, empower, and drive employees' motivation. (Alfatihah et al., 2021)

Mental Health

Maintaining optimal physical health is crucial for sustaining energy levels while maintaining a stress-free mindset fosters clarity and focus. Strong mental well-being not only enhances personal lives but also boosts performance in office life.

Encouraging with a healthy lifestyle serves as an effective stress management strategy, particularly since a significant portion of employees identify work as their primary source of stress. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is paramount for preserving mental health. When this equilibrium is attained, individuals are better equipped to handle negative emotions and thoughts, leading to heightened motivation and productivity. Moreover, dedicating time to mental well-being outside of work cultivates a less stressful work environment by motivating the employee.

Therefore, aiding employees in achieving a harmonious work-life integration is essential for safeguarding and enhancing their mental health. However, the challenges associated with remote work and blurred boundaries between professional and personal time pose threats to both individual well-being and organizational health.

Therefore, it's essential to promote a culture where employees are encouraged to take precautions, as this significantly contributes to enhancing work-life balance and motivation.

Strengthens Relationships

Extended working hours can lead to strained friendships, domestic bonds, and even deteriorating relationships between employees and employers. This also translates to limited or no quality time spent with family. It's challenging to be fully present and attentive to others when feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or burnt out.

When employees lack a proper work-life balance, they may harbor resentment towards their jobs for not allowing them time to support and spend time with those who matter most. Relationships are fundamental to human well-being, and if employees struggle to allocate time to their family, it becomes imperative to address this issue for the benefit of both the organization and the employee.A harmonious lifestyle enables employees to enjoy meaningful moments with their friends and family. This positive change can foster greater optimism toward their career, life, and work relationships, as they experience fulfillment from their personal connections.

Increases Engagement with motivation and Productivity at Work

Motivated employees contribute highly to the business and are assets for a company as they drive their respective organizations to success. However, when they have a poor work-life balance, it keeps them from connecting with others at work and negatively affects their engagement. Moreover, fatigue, absenteeism, and burnout are a few problems that can hinder employee engagement.

Therefore, encouraging employees to achieve a healthy balance between life and work is paramount. Better and increased employee engagement will also allow your organization to attract and retain top talent, emphasizing the importance of an excellent work-life balance.

When employees are feeling happy and motivated, they are more likely to be engaged and loyal. They are dedicated to their job responsibilities, ensure they do their best and are enthusiastic about coming to work. Engaged employees significantly outperform their less-engaged peers in almost all regards.

A physically and mentally healthy workforce feels more connected and motivated. And that increased employee enthusiasm means that they are going to be more engaged and will perform at a higher level. This bodes well for employees and employers alike, so ensuring engagement is high should be as important to a business as its bottom line

Work-Life Balance Facilitates Creative Thinking

Creativity flourishes in an environment of freedom, trust, and sufficient time. When employees are burdened with stress, their capacity for creative thinking diminishes. However, a balanced lifestyle fosters creativity, as the mind requires moments of rest to return refreshed and more adept at problem-solving. Consequently, achieving a good work-life balance not only enhances creativity and resourcefulness but also improves problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities within the workplace. (Diard, 2024)

It positively impacts mental health by reducing stress and promoting clarity, ultimately enhancing productivity. Moreover, maintaining a balance between work and personal life strengthens relationships, fostering a sense of fulfillment and loyalty among employees.
